Beth Bottorff, 80, passed away November 28, 2022, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home after a short illness.

Beth Marie Bottorff, was born April 30, 1942, in Webster City and she grew up at 1206 Division Street with her parents, Ralph and Beulah Grandgeorge, and her sister, Joyce. She graduated in 1960 from Lincoln High School in Webster City. In 1964, Beth earned a B.A. from Iowa State Teachers College. Beth married her high school sweetheart, Don J. Bottorff, on June 6, 1964. After they married, Beth and Don left for the Navy and University of Iowa Law School.

The growing Bottorff Family returned to Webster City in 1971. They soon moved to 407 E. Dubuque Street, where they spent many happy years.

Beth worked as a teacher, a social worker at Hamilton County Public Hospital, the owner of the Book Nook in downtown Webster City, and as a floral designer at Paula’s Flower Co. But, Beth’s most cherished role was as a wife and mother and raising her three children, Susan, Doug, Shelly, and being a proud grandmother. Beth was always on call to make a costume, help with a school project, whip up a pan of Scotcheroos, or drive a few hundred miles to watch a performance or sporting event. Whether you asked her or not, Beth’s unbiased opinion was that her child or grandchild was the best!

She is survived by daughter, Susan (Rod) Ahlers Leman of Iowa City, and grandchildren, Ben, Kate, Lauren, Jack, and Jillian; son, Douglas (Margaret) Bottorff; grandchildren, Frances, Henry, and Emmett of Iowa City; daughter, Shelly Bottorff of Rockwell City; niece, Debra (Jeff) Grummer; nephew, David (Lynn) Alberts; and nephew, Steve Alberts.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 2020, her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce, and Lyle Alberts.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Briggs Wood Convention Center, with the visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.

A private family burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ft. Dodge Fine Arts Association or Paula J. Baber Hospice Home — Unity Point Hospice Fort Dodge, Iowa.
