Helen Cady, age 84, of Ames, IA and formerly of Williams, IA, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Helen Marie, the daughter of Lyle Oscar and Ragnhild Jeanette (Male) Christianson was born on October 18, 1938 in Radcliffe, Iowa.

She attended the Radcliffe Public School and graduated with the Class of 1956. She went to beauty school shortly after high school.

On January16,1959, she was united in marriage to Don Cady of Williams, Iowa at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, Iowa. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in her home for 25 years. She also operated a home health care business for many years.

Helen passed her love of travel onto her daughters. She took her girls somewhere every summer. Traveling out to Oregon by train to see her dad was her favorite trip. They went to Disneyland and Disney World, Europe, traveling to many states by bus or train. She traveled with friends to Alaska, Australia and many parts of the US.

She was active in the United Methodist Church and the Williams Ladies Auxiliary. She was actively involved in the girls’ activities, as well as her grandchildren’s, attending as many school activities as possible. She was known for her sense of humor.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, sister Mary, brothers Richard and James, sister-in-law Janet Christianson, brothers-in-law Walt Brenno and Robert Blome.

Helen is survived by her daughters Kim (John) Cavanagh, and Kay (Price) Moberly; seven grandchildren, Lincoln (Hailey), Blake, Jaxon, Perry (Janelle), Paige (Courtney), Preston and Parker; five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Kaden, Scotlyn, Emerson, and Stella; sisters Ruth Blome and Linda Hess; along with many nieces and nephews.
