Mary Rahto, age 87, formerly of Jewell, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Colonial Springs Health Care Center in Buffalo, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3rd at the Jewell United Church of Christ in Jewell, IA. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Mary Anna (Oberender) Rahto was born on June 19, 1935 to Harold and Anna (Wing) Oberender in Jewell, Iowa.

She was raised, along with her four brothers, attending and graduating from Jewell High School with the Class of 1953.

She married Richard Rahto on November 12, 1955 at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell. They had a daughter, Susan and son, Kenny. They were married 52 years almost to the day when Richard passed away.

They lived in South Dakota, Minnesota, New Mexico and California before returning to Iowa in 1975. Mary worked at McFarland Clinic in Ames for a number of years.

Mary passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri.

She is survived by her brother Lyle Oberender; son-in-law Scott Hertzke; daughter-in-law Liz Rahto; grandchildren Timothy Hertzke, Sara Hertzke and Isaac Rahto; great-grandchildren Juniper Hertzke, Iris Hill, Elyn Hill, Nolan Rahto and Jace Rahto.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, son Kenny, daughter Susan Hertzke and brothers Carl, Orville and Wendell.
