Clare Daniel Brinton, 80, died of congestive heart failure on Friday, August 17, 2001 in Mesa, Arizona.

Clare was born January 26, 1921 to Scott and Mabelle Lindeback Brinton in Scott Township, Ellsworth, Iowa. He married Lucille Halvorson August 12, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, IA.

He was a 1940 graduate of Ellsworth High School. While living in Jewell, Iowa Clare was into farming, the Jewell town cop, he worked at Beams of Webster City and Iowa State University. In 1965, Clare and Lucille moved to Wichita, Kansas where he was employed by Boeing Aircraft. In 1970 they moved to Mesa, Arizona. Clare worked at Scottsdale Community College as Grounds Foreman. He retired from there in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Wayne and William.

He is survived by his wife Lucille of 58 years; four children: Dennis (wife, Beth) Brinton of Chandler, AZ, Cheryl (husband, Dean) Pierce of Midland, TX, Greg and the late Jo Brinton of Mesa, AZ, Susan (husband, Donald) Graves of Kennewick, WA; five grandchildren: Lori Brinton of Springfield, IL, Reid Brinton of AZ, Christi Brinton of AZ, Scott Pierce of TX, and Jeremy Brinton of AZ; four great grandchildren: Kayla Pierce of TX, Kenny, Kevin and Kayla Kahney of St. Louis, MO; two step grand-children: Paul Spurgeon and Karla Baker; one sister: Peggy Voga of Apache Junction, AZ; two brothers: Homer Brinton of Belmond, IA, Gene Brinton of New London, MN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. August 22, 2001. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be sent to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or Hospice Family Care at 5037 E. Broadway, Mesa, AZ 85206.
