Douglas E. Ribbey, 80, of Stanhope, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fosters Chapel, with Rev. Denis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be at Fosters from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.

Douglas Emmett Ribbey, son of Dewey and Pearl Norton Ribbey, was born November 8, 1923 at Webster City. He received his education in the Webster City school system. During W.W. II, he served with the U.S. Navy - Quartermaster.

On August 5, 1945 he married Elizabeth Marie Hull at Boone. The couple resided at Des Moines, Webster City, Minnesota, Oregon, Nebraska and South Dakota. He had resided at Stanhope for the past 29 years. He was a tool and die maker. Mrs. Ribbey died March 27, 2001.

Mr. Ribbey is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sherri Ribbey of Des Moines, Wade and Judy Ribbey of Kansas City, Ks., Patrick and Patricia Ribbey of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joe Yates of Webster City; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister, George-Anna Grill of Omaha, Neb.; several nieces and nephews.
