Harley F. Hupp, 78, Webster City, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at Hamilton Hospital. Private family graveside services will be held at Cass Township Cemetery with Rev. Peter Peterson officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 191 of Webster City. The family asks friends to join them for a time of remembrance at Asbury United Methodist Church, 921 Des Moines St., on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at 2:15 p.m. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Harley Fredrick Hupp, son of Russell and Ruth Hemminger Hupp, was born May 8, 1926 at the Hupp Family farm at Cass Township in Hamilton County, Iowa. He attended rural schools and Webster City High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the 27th Division, 77th Division and the 1st Calvary in the South Pacific and Japan during World War II. On June 28, 1948 he married Beverly Joan Calkins at Waterloo. The couple resided at Webster City. He farmed in Cass Township and was a truckdriver for many years until his retirement in 1988. He also worked part-time as a driver for several companies and as a volunteer for the RSVP.

In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Michele Hupp of Webster City; daughter Jacalyn Hupp of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; two granddaughters, Leslee and Hayley Hupp, Webster City, sisters Ardys Boston of Nevada, Patricia and brother-in-law John Peters of Macon, Mo., brother-in-law, Robert Worley of San Antonio, Texas, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hupp was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Nadine Wadsworth and Martha Worley.

He was active in the Asbury United Methodist Church and also served on the County Extension Council, served as a 4-H leader for the Cass Cardinals, as a special Tractor Project Leader. He was a member of the North Central Iowa Antique Tractor Club and the American Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
