A.W. (Bill) Crystal, 87, Clarion, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday prior to the service.

Ammon William Crystal, son of Thomas and Marietta Settle Crystal, was born Jan. 10, 1913 in Missouri. He received his education in rural schools in Missouri. He started farming with his father. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army-Infantry in the Pacific Theatre of Action. Following his discharge, he returned to farming at Webster City. On July 10, 1949 he married Leona Marguerite Deakman Stewart at Blairsburg. The couple farmed northeast of Webster City. He retired in 1978. Mrs. Crystal died April 27, 1987. He moved to Webster City in 1990. The past three years, he had resided at USA Healthcare in Clarion.

Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Harvey Hansen, Goshen, Ind., Elaine and Bob Chester, Rantoul, Ill., JoAnn Crystal and Jack Meyers of Montgomery Village, Md., sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Ann Stewart, Webster City, Lynn and Mary Crystal of Webster City; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Steve Hansen, brother Everett Crystal, sisters Hattie Webber, Olive Webber, Anna Eckman (his twin) and Georgia Davis.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, deacon in his church and a former board member of the Stonega Cooperative.
