Memorial services for Clifford and Vera Rasmussen, Webster City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home with pastor Ray Artrip officiating. The bodies were cremated and burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be before the service on Monday. Mr. Rasmussen, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Mrs. Rasmussen, 85, died Friday, July 21, 2000 at home.

The couple married on Aug. 18, 1940 at Fort Dodge. They made their home in Webster City.

Clifford Rasmussen, the son of Peter and Karen (Nelson) Rasmussen, was born July 6, 1911 on a farm northeast of Jewell. He attended rural schools in that area. He farmed and also worked for Wright Chevrolet as a mechanic. He later worked for the Iowa Highway Commission in maintenance and continued to farm. He retired in 1977.

Vera (Beard) Rasmussen, the daughter of John and Marina (Bennett) Beard, was born June 13, 1915 at Oskaloosa. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1933. In the early 1930s, she was employed at Zitteral Mills for more than five years. In addition to farming, she was employed at Spurgeon's Department Store for more than 35 years before retiring.

Survivors include: the couple's daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Kenny Malaise, Webster City; grandchildren John Malaise and Kathy Miller; great-grandson Rocco Jo Miller; Mrs. Rasmussen's sister, Hazel Pringle, Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rasmussen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Neuman, Robert, Carl and Lewis Rasmussen, and a sister Mary Wenzel.

Mrs. Rasmussen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Daniel, Forrest, John and Leroy Beard, and sisters Gertrude Beard and Opal Glaman.

Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen were members of the Church of Christ in Webster City.
