Franklin Schnell, 67, Webster City, a former Williams resident, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Franklin Paul Schnell, son of Truman and Evelyn Purkapile Schnell, was born July 25, 1933 at Webster City. He attended the Webster City schools. He worked at the Moline Iron Works at Moline, IL. During the Korean war, he served with the U.S. Army-Infantry for two years in Europe. Following his discharge, he started working for the Forrester Dairy. On September 20, 1957 he married Joan Marie Short at Webster City. He continued at Forrester's, then Morton Foods, Weaver's Quarry and American Aluminum Foundry, all in Webster City. For 24 years he worked at the Acme Foundry in Minneapolis, MN, retiring in 1995. They moved to Williams and for the past two weeks have resided in Webster City.

He is survived by his wife Joan; daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and George Draeger, Webster City; Robin and William Campeau, Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Linda Schnell, Fredric, Wis., Brad and Ruth Schnell, Columbia Heights, Mn; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sisters, Ruth Norris, June Larson and Marcia Dayton, all of Webster City; brothers Melvin Schnell, Eagle Grove and Robert Schnell, Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Verla Jean Schnell, in infancy; brothers Merlyn, Bernard and Lawrence Schnell.

He was a member of the Lowry Baptist Church in Minneapolis and International Allied Molders Union-Local #63 of Mn.
