Robert E. Bell, 59, Redmond, Wash., died Thursday, August 10, 2000. Funeral services will be held August 19 in Redmond. Condolences may be sent to the family 18425 NE 95th St., #97, Redmond, WA, 98104.

Robert Eugene Bell, son of Ronald and Cleo Bell, was born March 11, 1941 in Stratford. He married Nancy Gabrielson in Stratford in 1960. He was a barber in Stratford for 25 years and had currently owned the Crossroads Barbershop in Bellevue, Wash. He and his wife founded the Stratford Courier in 1978.

He was an officer and board member of the Stratford Lions, Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Calvary United Methodist Church and the Stratford Historical Society. He served on the Stratford Betterment Committee and instigated the Great Stratford Fat-Off. He was president of the Stratford Strutters Square Dance Club and a member of the Samena Squares, Square Crows, and Toe Stompers in Washington. He was a Mason in both Stratford and Bellevue, Wash., and Homeowners Association, The Crossroads Merchant Association and Washington State Hairdressers Association.

Survivors are his wife, Nancy, Redmond, Wash., son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jill Bell of Snohomish, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Bjarne Steensgaard of Redmond, Grandchildren, Brianna, Gabriel and Grethe; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mike Nepereny, niece and nephew, Melinda Oester and Patrick Nepereny, of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
