Betty Gumm, 75, Webster City, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Betty June Leytham, daughter of Otto and Erma Condron Leytham, was born Dec. 29, 1927 at Woodbine, Iowa. She graduated from Dow City High School. On June 12, 1946, she married Jerald LeRoy Gumm at Denison. The couple moved from Rockwell City to Webster City where they had been residents for over 30 years. She had worked in the school lunch program at Rockwell City and Webster City retiring in the early 1980s. The couple enjoyed wintering in Donna, Texas for several years and traveling. They had visited their son in Spain and Korea. Mr. Gumm died on Nov. 17, 2002.

Mrs. Gumm is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Joe Burton of St. Paul, Minn., son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Kathy Gumm of Bellevue, Iowa; grandchildren, Tracee Burton, Shawn and Katie Gumm; mother, Erma Spotts, Woodbine; brothers Ted Leytham of Council Bluffs, Jim Leytham of Woodbine; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, and brother, Dale Leytham.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a volunteer at Hamilton Hospital for several years, active in the United Women's Club of Asbury United Methodist Church, active in a local craft club and a member of the Women of the Moose.
