Betty June Donaldson Baird, 81, Corvallis, Ore., died Nov. 17, 2002 at her home. Following cremation no services are planned. The ashes will be buried at a later date in the Cass Township Cemetery.

Betty June Donaldson, daughter of George and Leta Zenor Donaldson, was born April 4, 1921 on the Zenor farm near Woolstock. She attended Woolstock High School, Eagle Grove Junior College and Drake University, obtaining degrees in music and education. She taught at Woolstock, Kanawha and Clear Lake. She was an enthusiastic 4-H member and held all 4-H offices in Hamilton and Wright counties. She participated in many state programs as a vocalist and was awarded a trip to the Chicago International competition. The couple continued their 4-H leadership for 40 years in every community they lived. She directed many choirs, sang for hundreds of funerals, weddings and was a regular soloist for many churches. When they moved to California, she taught elementary grades at Alturas, Grenada and Gazelle. The whole family showed many breeds of livestock all over the western half of the United States. Her specialty was horses and ponies, particularly Arabians and was a board member of the National Shetland Association.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Allen Baird, daughters, Ruth Elizabeth Wurst of Bend, Ore., Althea Ann Baird of Klamath Falls,, Ore., sons, Charles Allen Baird Jr of Eugene, Ore., Ben Lee Baird of North Powder, Ore., Andrew Noel Baird of Huntington, Ore., 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Williams Allen Baird.

She was a member of two music sororities and PEO.
