Harold H. Hanson, 83, Elbow Lake, Minn. died Sunday, August 25 at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Bethlehem-West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Elbow Lake had charge of arrangements.

Harold H. Hanson was born April 12, 1919 on a farm near Gwinner, ND. In 1924, he moved to Webster City where he grew up. He was a sergeant in Company E 134th Infantry Division in the Iowa National Guard when World War II began. He was activated and served as an Army First Lieutenant in Ireland and Italy. While stationed in Baton Route, LA, before being shipped overseas, he married Jean Branch on May 31, 1941. Harold was the proud holder of a Bronze Star. After discharge, he entered into partnership with his father in the Hanson DX Service Station in Webster City. In 1959, he sold the station and purchased the Coast-to-Coast Hardware store in Elbow Lake. Harold retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Linda (Mrs. Joseph) Grysiewicz of Staunton, Ill., JoEllen (Mrs. Paul) Amundson of Clear Lake, Minn., son, Robert (Kathy) Hanson, Dent, Minn; four grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Hanson and Adelle and Allyn Amundson, nine nieces and nephews, and one brother, Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tillie [Klaver] Hanson, brothers George H. and Lloyd L. Hanson, and sister Karen S. (Mrs. Paul) Olson.
