Marvin L. Alexander, 61, Omaha, Neb. died July 30, 2002 at NHS University Hospital in Omaha. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, corner of Des Moines St. and Bank St., Webster City. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Foundation.

Marvin L. Alexander, the son of Orley G. and Hazel M. Alexander, was born Oct. 31, 1940 in Webster City. He attended school in Webster City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. After attending junior college two years, he went to Stout State College in Menomonie, Wis. on a football scholarship. He graduated from UNI.

Marv taught school two years in Mason City, and then went to the University of Utah for his masters. He returned to Mason City and taught in the three junior high schools. In October, 1973, he started working for the CNW railroad at the Mason City office. His employment required several moves taking him to Boone, Chicago and Omaha. Marv enjoyed sports: as a participant, spectator or on TV.

He is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Alexander of Littleton, Colo., and Geneva Cupp of Webster City; a niece, Karilyn Cupp of Webster City and a nephew's wife and daughter, JoAnn Cupp and Adrian. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Keith Cupp.
