Dr. Boyd D. Dugan, 77, Woodward, died Saturday, May 24, 1997 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines due to respiratory failure. Funeral services were held today at the United Methodist Church, Woodward, with Rev. Bonifacio Mequi officiating. Burial took place in Woodward Cemetery. Brandt Funeral Home in Woodward was in charge of arrangements.

Boyd Dugan, son of Walter Philip and Olive Emily (Bennett) Dugan, was born Jan. 6, 1920 at Woodward. On June 25, 1941 he married Iris Marie Taylor at Woodward. The couple lived in Webster City from 1949 to 1982, and in Dexter from 1982 to 1991, when they moved to Woodward. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed as a podiatrist in Webster City from 1949 to 1982.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn Dugan, Wichita, Kan.; a son, Boyd Dugan, Jr., Woodward; three grandsons, Matthew, Nicholas and Kristopher Dugan, all of Woodward; a sister, Lydia Harker, Perry; and a brother, Howard Dugan, West Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Mary Bristle, Blanche Threlius, Cora Snyder and Jenny Frahm.

Mr. Dugan was a member of the United Methodist Church, former mayor of Webster City, and former member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Webster City. He also was a Webster City Rotary Club member, Boy Scout leader, past president of WE-WAN-TO-GO Travel Club, and a life member of the American Podiatry Association.
