Bette Jane Wesley was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 15, 1931, to Wallace and Daisy (Lee) Wesley. She worked various jobs upon her high school graduation in 1950 and enjoyed her time serving in the USO where she met her future husband, Tom Hill. They married in Detroit in 1955 and moved to Williams, Iowa soon after. Bette had never driven a vehicle before she married, so Tom taught her how in the country on gravel roads. She dreamed of marrying and having children. Bette embraced the role of being a loving and devoted wife and mother while Tom pursued farming. They were married for 24 years and raised four children, however many people considered her their surrogate mom over the years. She enjoyed supporting her children in their church and school projects and served as a Girl Scout leader in her community. Bette cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. Not only did she embrace her role as a loving mom, but she also cherished being grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All who loved her dearly will greatly miss her. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams.

Bette is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Lynn and Mike Sesker of Burleson, TX, Patty and Mike Ratzke of Williams; her son and his wife, Grason and Jeanne Hill of Perry; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, as well as former friends and neighbors from Williams and Webster City.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Daisy; brother, Bill; sisters, June and Shirley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grason and Emily; and sadly, her youngest son, Michael. What a joyful reunion they are having now.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Bette’s memory to the Williams Lions Club for the Williams 4th of July Celebration and lighting renovations at the Williams City Park.
