Barbara Carpenter, 80, of Webster City, IA, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Barbara Lou Mesecher, daughter of Arthur and Nadean (Madsen) Mesecher, was born May 10, 1941, in Webster City where she grew up and attended school. On February 16, 1958, Barbara was united in marriage to Marvin Eugene Carpenter in Fort Dodge. She worked as the activity coordinator for 28 years at Southfield Wellness Community.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Joe) Meyer of Fort Dodge, Dave (Trisha) Carpenter, Rob (Diana) Carpenter, and Steve Carpenter all of Webster City; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Condon, Mitchell (Chelsie) Carpenter, Kevin Ryan, Tyler Carpenter, Ashley (Thomas) Throntveit, Megan (Kolton Claude) Carpenter, and Austin Carpenter; eight great-grandchildren and another arriving in May; sister, Linda Lundy of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Darlene Mesecher of Fort Dodge, Linda Mesecher of Nevada, and Rose Mesecher Corvaglia of Texas; many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by son, Ricky Carpenter; grandsons, Matthew and Mark Carpenter; brothers, Roger Mesecher, Larry Mesecher and Ronnie Mesecher.
Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webster City and the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Webster City Parks and Recreational Committee. She liked to bake, play Bingo and cards with friends, go to garage sales, and watch Lynx athletics. Barbara especially enjoyed her days dancing with Marvin.
