Michael D. Geerdes, 45, of Beaman, Iowa, died Friday, June 24, 2005 at his home. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Following the graveside service, a gathering will be at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Michael David Geerdes, son of Richard and Gertrude Smidt Geerdes, was born December 2, 1959 at Fort Dodge. He served with the U.S. Army. On August 22, 1981, he married Karen Maxon at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. They were later divorced. He had been employed at United Cooperative and the Webster City Country Club.

He is survived by sons, Joshua Geerdes, in the US Navy near Iraq, Noah Geerdes of Webster City, daughter, Sarah Geerdes of Webster City, his mother, Gertrude Geerdes of Pomeroy; sisters, Brenda Caughron of Pomeroy, Marilyn Farrell of Des Moines, Diane Mason of Sac City, brothers, Richard Geerdes of Ida Grove; Donald Geerdes of Manson, Ronald Geerdes of Stratford, Greg Geerdes of Pomeroy; several nieces and nephews, special friend, Shelly Smitherman of Beaman and her children, Patrick, Austin and Collin Smitherman.

He was preceded in death by his father.
