Virginia Poland, 71, Webster City, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Virginia Fay Bond, daughter of John and Nola Connelly Bond, was born May 22, 1929 at Gem, Kan. She received her education in the Gem Schools, graduating in 1947. On Sept. 4, 1948 she married Bernard D. Poland at Gem. The couple resided in Gem until 1955 when they moved to Phillipsburg, Kan. In 1962, they moved to Hastings, Neb. then to Webster City in 1966. She had been employed at J.C. Penney, Ben Franklin and Williams Drug, all in Webster City.

Survivors are her husband, Bernard, daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and Vern Rich of Carrollton, Texas, Vickie and David Totten, Webster City, Donna and Richard Straight, Lincoln, Neb., Kristi and Arnie Ruston, Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Marianne Poland, Whitehouse Station, NJ, David and Tina Poland, Webster City; grandchildren, Sean and Kirbie Totten, Maegen Straight, Ryan, Aaron and Bailey Rushton, Tyler, Kendall, Winona, Lucas and MacKenzie Poland, sisters, Margery Kirk of Colby, Kan., Verbel Bogue (twin sister) of Kokomo, Ind., Darlene Heckert, Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerald Bond, Colby, Kan.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ella Mae Bond, brothers James and Johnny Bond.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jene Chadwick-Bridgewater Circle, board of Christian Education, taught Sunday School, the Quilt Club and was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church.
