MRS. FOSTER, 63, DIES SUDDENLY IN DES MOINES

Funeral Services Will Be Held Here Monday at 9 A.M.

Mrs. Arch Foster, 63, widely known Webster City resident, died early Friday morning at Mercy hospital in Des Moines where she had been a patient since Monday. She had undergone a major operation and her death, which was caused by shock, came unexpectedly as she had been reported getting along satisfactorily.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church here, the Rev. Father Frein officiating. Burial will be on the family lot at Independence. Rosary will be Sunday evening at 8 o'clock at the Foster home, 1614 Willson avenue. [it's a little smudged so not sure if it is 1614 or 1514]

Mrs. Foster, the former Evelyn Frances Rodney, youngest daughter of Matthew and Mary Leigh Rodney, was born Sept. 20, 1880 on a farm six miles southwest of Independence. Her parents were pioneer residents of Buchanan county.

When a small child she moved with her parents to Independence and there she attended the Sisters' convent and was graduated from the public schools. Following her graduation she taught for one year in the Buffalo community, 25 miles southeast of Independence.

Aug. 27, 1907 she was married to Arch Foster at Independence where they made their home for a year. On Aug. 1, 1908 they moved to Webster City and had since made their home here.

Mr. and Mrs. Foster built the residence at 839 First street in 1911 and later purchased their present home which is the former W.J. Covil residence.

Having been baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, Mrs. Foster was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas church in this city.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, three sisters and five brothers. Surviving are her husband, one son, Jim, of Philadelphia, and two sisters, Mrs. N.J. Haas of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. P.A. Janeway of Oklahoma City, Okla. There are also several nieces and nephews.

Widely popular, she was also prominent socially and in other activities outside her own church circle. Always of a cheery disposition, she was a welcome member of any group and particularly thoughtful and helpful toward people less fortunate than herself. Her life had meant much to this community and she will be sadly missed in many circles. A host of warm friends extend heartfelt sympathies to her husband, son and other relatives. Her death was a severe shock, not only to them, but to the community as a whole for few persons knew that she was in Des Moines for an operation, nor did they even suspect her illness was anything serious.

The family request that no flowers be sent.
