Larry Leo Davis, 82, of Stratford died January 22, 2021. He had been in the Stratford Care Center since August 2020. Born on September 18, 1938 on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa to parents Myrtle (Hetland) and Leo Davis, he was raised on a farm by Ellsworth, Iowa.

Larry married Priscilla Reith on May 1, 1960 and moved to Royal in Northwest Iowa in 1964 where he was a hog buyer for Farmland Foods and a trucker until 1972. He also served for many years in the National Guard.

They had four children; son Terry, infant twins John and James and a daughter Holly.

They moved to Radcliffe briefly before settling on a farm between Jewell and Stanhope where they lived until 1992. After purchasing an acreage, they lived on the edge of Stratford until 2016, then moving to Athens Woods Apartments in Stratford where Priscilla still resides.

Larry was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters; Donna and Verla, twin infant sons; John and James and son Terry.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla, daughter Holly (Kurt) Fry of Ames and a sister Neva Beymer of Denison, Iowa.

He was an avid reader, loved dogs and horses and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stratford.

Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.
