In the evening of January 9, 2021 Wayne Ubben of Story City died at the age of 86 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Private family services will be Wednesday, January 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Jewell.

Wayne was born to Walter and Gladys (Johnson) Ubben on January 22, 1934. He has two siblings, Willis Ubben of California and Waneta Hall of Webster City. Wayne spent his early years learning to farm in Kamrar, Iowa. Later in life, he developed a passion for raising purebred Suffolk sheep that he showed at local and state fairs around the Midwest. Wayne was always proud of his farming and sheep business.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Ubben, who blessed him with four children, Dale Ubben of Des Moines, Rick Ubben of Stanhope, Cindy Atkinson of Lake Jackson, Texas and an infant son, Alan who died early in life. He also is survived by wife Barbara Ubben, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in the Iowa and Colorado areas.
