Susan Jane Beyer was born on May 29, 1945 at the Jewell Hospital in Jewell, IA. She was the youngest child born to Harvey and Quvie (Lindebak) Miller.

She grew up on a farm near Jewell. Sue received her education in the Jewell Community School District where she graduated with the first class to be South Hamilton School District in 1963. After high school she graduated from Waldorf College. She went to work at Iowa State University where she was secretary for the state 4-H leader.

On August 26, 1967 Sue was united in married to Lynn Beyer at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Sue and Lynn started their married life together while he was serving in the Air Force at Wichita, KS for six months, then being sent to Thailand. Sue and Lynn moved their mobile home from Kansas back to the family farm where she lived and again started working in the State 4-H office until 1973 when Kimberly was born.

She loved doing craft things and was a busy homemaker while her daughters were growing up. During the 80's farm crisis she started working for the FDIC at the bank in Williams for a year. Not wanting to start driving to Des Moines for a job, and missing out on her daughters' activities, she opted to take a job with Farmers State Bank in Jewell and Ellsworth for 14 years. She helped Lynn in the farming operation until her health no longer allowed it.

The Iowa State Fair brought Sue and Lynn together while they were both working for 4-H in 1966. Hence a family tradition of going to the Iowa State Fair was born. Sue enjoyed all aspects of the fair; camping, checking in 4-H exhibits and having (fair fun) with her friends and family. She taught her family the value of friends.

She was a lifelong member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. She was a member of the DEB HART Club. She was very active in the Kids Cancer Squad and the Jewell Red Hat Society.

Sue fought a long hard battle with her health for the last eight years. She passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband Lynn of Jewell; two daughters Kimberly (Ryan) Moffitt of Ames and Jennifer Beyer of Miller, MO; grandchildren Tyler (Kayley) and Paige McKenna and Austin (Melissa) Skrepak; great-grandsons Beckham and Cord McKenna and Samuel Skrepak; along with many other relatives and friends.
