Lois Kathleen Frette, 79, of Jewell, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2021 surrounded by her family after a courageous, 18 year battle with breast cancer.

Lois was born on March 15, 1942 in Hardin County, Iowa, daughter of Lester and Romaine (Gaard) Ritland. She graduated from Radcliffe High School. Lois was united in marriage to Wendell Frette on September 4, 1958 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She and Wendell were the proud parents of three children. Lois spent most of her career at the South Hamilton School library where she could enjoy her passions for reading and kids. After she and Wendell both retired in 2010, they continued to attend many South Hamilton athletic events.

Lois was so happy to raise her family as Cyclone fanatics, and they attended many Iowa State University events over the years. She and Wendell were also ushers at Iowa State sporting events for 20 years.

Lois had coffee daily with a tight-knit group of women in Jewell for 56 years. This wonderful friendship bond and their daily coffee routine continued until her final days. In between morning and afternoon coffee (weather permitting) Lois could be found on the golf course.

Lois loved to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family. Everyone will especially miss her wonderful cinnamon rolls, lefsa, kringla and chicken noodle soup.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Wendell; her children Marcia (Randy) Hove, Marc (Kim) Frette and Sarah (Pat) Dolphin; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Abby) Hove, Garrett (Kelsee) Hove, Jordan (Whitney) Frette, April (Brody) Zimmerman, Jillian (Nate) Wieneke, Taylor (Aubrey) Frette, Logan (Courtney) Wieneke and McKay (Tyler) Clark; and her thirteen great grandchildren: Gavin, Fletcher, Bowen and Ezra Hove, Graham and Baker Hove, Maverick Frette, Baylee and Landon Zimmerman, Atley Andersen, Lenyx Wieneke and Briggs and Hayes Clark. Other survivors include siblings: Nancy Carter, Curt (Linda) Ritland and Don (Deb) Ritland; inlaws: Dave (Mary) Skartvedt, Ivan (Barb) Skartvedt, Lyle (Pam) Skartvedt and Jean (Larry) Engelson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Helen Skartvedt, brother, Les Ritland, brother-in-laws Hugh Carter and Glen Frette and sister-in-law Joan Olson.
