Karen Anderson, 70, a lifelong resident of Webster City, died Saturday, April 24th, after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19. Her family will be holding a private Celebration of Life gathering in her memory on Sunday, July 25th.

Karen Ann Anderson, daughter of late John and Glenda Severson, was born May 6th, 1950. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1969. Always a creative person, Karen dabbled in several careers in addition to her role as mother and homemaker, including hairstylist, Mary Kay sales, real estate, antique store owner, interior designer. Later she joined her husband, Douglas, driving semi-truck across the U.S.

At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Douglas Jeffrey Anderson. During their 52 years of marriage, they shared countless adventures, including cross-country motorcycle trips, snowmobiling in Wisconsin, and four-wheeling in Colorado. In recent years, the couple spent their winters on the island of Port Aransas, Texas, where they formed a tight circle of friends in their mobile park.

Karen was a social butterfly and made easy friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, visiting casinos, shopping, and coffee and drinks with her girlfriends.

Karen is survived by her husband Douglas, their three children, Shawn (Laura) Anderson of Webster City, Joseph (Jenny) Anderson of Webster City, and Lindsay (Scott) Henderson of Webster City; grandchildren, Kyle Anderson, Alexis Anderson, Tucker Murray, and Karina Murray; Step-grandchildren, Brody Henderson, Madeline Ogg, Jayce Ogg, Jesse Ogg; Great-grandchildren, Teagan, Mia, and Quinn; her brothers Jeff (Leslie) Severson of Webster City, and James (Terri) Severson of Duncombe.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Jennifer, brother Michael, and nephew John Jay.
