Doris A. Johnston, 83, Fort Dodge, died July 23, 2001 at Trinity Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. Gordon Watson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held at Bruce's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Linda Johnston of Warick, NY, and Bruce and Sue Johnston of Webster City; grandchildren, Matthew Johnston, Fort Dodge, Sara Worthen, Webster City, Adam and Michael Johnston, North Liberty and two step-grandchildren, Kristine Lewis of Atlanta, GA., and Brian Mills, Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren, Jenna Worthen, Hailey and Macy Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and a brother Howard Dahlke in 1977.

Doris Arlene Dahlke was born August 28, 1917 in Woolstock, to Fred and Nora Pearl Olmstead Dahlke. She was raised and educated in the Webster City area and graduated from Webster City High School in 1934. She later attended beautician's school in Omaha.

She was united in marriage to Raymond "Hap" Johnston on March 16, 1946 in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. She worked at the Lutheran (Trinity) Hospital, the Mainliner Cafe, and finally in the ready-to-wear department of Gates Department Store, retiring when it closed.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Get-Together Club, the This-and-That Club, the Town and Country Mothers' Club, and the Trinity Auxiliary 500 Tournament. Doris was an avid bowler and a member of the Fort Dodge Women's Bowling Association and several leagues over the years.
