Evelyn Burnett, 84, of Webster City, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Keller officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Evelyn Lela Lacy, daughter of Charles and Sophia Hope Lacy, was born July 14, 1919 at Webster City. She received her education in Webster City Schools. On October 24, 1937, she married Ross Willard Burnett at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. She worked at McMurray Hatchery for 20 years, as a nursing assistant and kitchen assistant at Hamilton Hospital, then was assigned dietary director, a position she held for 8 years at Hamilton Hospital. She retired in 1980. Mr. Burnett died October 24, 2001. While dietary director, she was instrumental in the development of the Meals on Wheels program.

Mrs. Burnett is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Kay Burnett of Marshalltown; Ron and Lynn Burnett of Davenport, Wa., Russ and Karen Burnett of Ida Grove; Dan and Rena Burnett of Blairsburg, Cindy Ruhl of Blairsburg, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, sister, Charlotte Brown of Keota, Ia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents, grandson, Aaron Burnett; brothers, Otis and Leonard Lacy; sisters, Anna Merrill and Rosemary Lacy.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, R.S.V.P., and after retirement, she and her husband helped deliver Meals on Wheels.
