Herbert Meyer, 88, of Bethesda, Maryland, died Sunday, July 8, 2001 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. There will be no visitation. Foster Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Herbert Albert Meyer was born April 27, 1913 in Denison, Iowa. He received his education in Denison and Webster City. On September 29, 1935 he married Esther Sarah Hanson, Webster City. The couple lived in Webster City for a brief period and then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. In 1948, the couple moved to a home in Bethesda, Maryland where Mrs. Meyer still resides today. Herbert worked for the Department of Labor in Washington D.C. until his retirement in March of 1972. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Bethesda.

Survivors are his wife, Esther Meyer, one son and daughter-in-law, Jack Meyer and Jo Ann Crystal Meyer; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Steve McNamara; and four grandchildren, Maureen and Michael Meyer, and Jennifer and Suzanne McNamara.

Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandchild.
