Funeral services for Ed Wearda, 88, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Buchhop officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at Foster Funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Mr. Wearda died Sunday, Sept. 25 at Southfield Care Center.

Edward Benjamin Wearda, son of Montje and Anna Wenger Wearda, was born Feb. 23, 1900 in McLean County, Ill.

At the age of 7, he moved with his family to the Webster City area. He attended country schools and was confirmed at St. Paul Parochial School in Webster City.

On Aug. 28, 1941, he married Thelma Douglas at Webster City. The couple farmed in the Webster City area and moved to town in 1984.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Bob) Mitchell of Mason City; one son, Kenneth Wearda of Webster City; seven grandchildren; one brother, Harry Wearda of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he belonged to the Men's Club and the Couples' Club.
