Mrs. Attie (Anna) Branch, 82, a lifelong resident of the Stanhope community, died Tuesday afternoon at Bethany Manor in Story City where she had been a resident the past 18 months.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Anna Hanson, daughter of Jens and Ingeborg Hanson, was born March 6, 1887, on a farm near Stanhope and received her education in the Stanhope schools. For several years she was employed at the post office in Stanhope.

She was united in marriage Aug. 2, 1910 to Attie A. Branch, and the couple farmed in the Stanhope vicinity until 1954 when they retired and moved into Stanhope.

She is survived by two sons and four daughters: Nelson A. Branch, Cedar Falls, Willard A. Branch, Davenport; Mrs. Emory (Pauline) Nelson, Riverdale, Ill.; Mrs. Clarence (Inez) Brouwer, Mason City; Mrs. Clifford (Ruth) Gage, Marshalltown and Mrs. Harold (Jean) Hanson of Elbow Lake, Minn., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband July 1, 1955; by one son, Nelson J. Branch; two grandsons, Richard Gage and Michael Branch; by her parents and one brother.

Mrs. Branch was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope.
