Jean Carroll, 78, formerly of Webster City, died June 1, 2001 in Roseville, Calif., after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated in her memory on June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Webster City, with Rev. Stephen Hall presiding.

Jean was born to Charles and Myrtle (Harrison) Ferriman on Oct. 17, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She received her education in the Prince Edward County and Trenton, Ontario schools. During World War II, she served as a civilian employee of the Royal Canadian Air Force Medical Division on Trenton, Ontario. She married Walter Scheiss on August 25, 1944 while he was home on leave from the service in Europe with the RCAF. Following Walter's death on May 9, 1957, she moved to Gillette, Wyoming.

On April 27, 1962, Jean was united in marriage with Bill Carroll in Buffalo, Wyoming. They made their home in Webster City in 1967.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Bill Carroll, son, daughter-in-law and grandsons, Paul, Gwynne, Tom and Jeff Scheiss of Granite Bay, Calif., son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Jennifer Carroll of St. George, Utah; two sisters and their husband, four nieces and four nephews of Ontario, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Kathleen.

Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Yorktown Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the Organ Fund at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Webster City.
