Funeral services for Pete Madsen, 83, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. R.M. Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the church.

Mr. Madsen, a prominent Webster City building contractor, died Thursday morning at the Hamilton County hospital.

Peter Madsen, son of Anton and Johanne Madsen, was born Sept. 24, 1884 in Denmark. In 1902, he came to the United States, locating at Des Moines.

He was united in marriage May 12, 1910 to Jenny Johansen, and the couple made their home in Des Moines where Mr. Madsen engaged in the building and contracting business. In 1916, the family moved to Webster City where Mr. Madsen was employed by the Zitterell-Mills Co. for 25 years. Later Mr. Madsen owned and operated his own building-contracting business. He retired in 1954 from the contracting business but had remained active since as a cabinet-maker.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and daughters: Mrs. C.G. (Lillian) Metcalf of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Ferrell (Elizabeth) Finley, Los Altos, Calif., Robert F. Madsen and Harold G. Madsen, both of Webster City; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Madsen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.
