Jonathan Guy Prunty, 74, West Des Moines, died January 24, 2001 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at 3 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.

Jonathan Guy Prunty [son of Guy and Zelda Taylor Prunty] was born in Hartford, S.D. [April 22, 1926]. He also lived in Des Moines, Webster City and West Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a combat veteran of Okinawa. Mr. Prunty worked for the city of Des Moines as an administrator of data processing. He retired in 1988. He was a member of West Des Moines United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 191 of Webster City and the U.S.S. LCS (L) 1-130 Association. He enjoyed writing editorials to the Des Moines Register and other publications.

Survivors are his wife, Gleneva Prunty, West Des Moines, a brother, Malcolm Prunty, Aurora, Colo., and a sister, Glendolyn Peterson, Gillette, Wyo.
