Wilfred "Bill" Wesley Lockhart, 81, Stanhope, died Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church 2 1/2 miles south of Hwy 175 south of Jewell with Pastor Harley Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the family present from 5-8 p.m. Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wilfred Wesley Lockhart, son of Allen and Evaline Kesler Lockhart, was born April 12, 1919 at Webster City. He graduated from Ellsworth High School and attended business school. On Sept. 9, 1945 he married LaVonne Husby at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Jewell. The couple moved in March of 1946 to a farm southwest of Jewell where they farmed for 28 years. In March of 1974, they moved to the Family Century Farm where they lived and farmed until his death. He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, son Lloyd Wesley Lockhart of Story City, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ben Bicknese of Iowa Falls, two grandsons; Terry Bicknese of Tampa, Fl., Todd and wife Jennifer Bicknese of Iowa Falls, great-granddaughter, Ashley Bicknese, sister-in-law Mrs. (Keith) Geneva Lockhart of Stratford; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edwinna Schweppe and brother, Keith Lockhart.

Mr. Lockhart was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Jewell, past president and treasurer of the Stanhope Lions Club and former Deacon of his church.

The family requests that memorials be given to his church.
