A SUDDEN DEATH

Mrs. Kathryn Kamrar-Stevens Dies Unexpectedly at her Home in Chicago.

This community was shocked last evening by the announcement of the death of Mrs. Kathryn Kamrar-Stevens, the accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Kamrar, which occurred yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at her home in Chicago, after an illness of but a few days duration. The first intimation the family and friends here had of her illness came in a dispatch Wednesday afternoon announcing that Mrs. Stevens was suffering from appendicitis and that it would be necessary for her to undergo an operation. Immediately upon receipt of this unwelcome news Mrs. Kamrar was prepared to go to Chicago on the first train. But before she started another dispatch was received stating that the operation had been performed and that it was successful. Mrs. Kamrar arrived at the home of her daughter in Chicago yesterday morning and found the latter's condition critical, but it was not supposed the end was so near. However, medical skill and all that loving hands could do failed to ward off the unwelcome messenger, and all that was mortal of Mrs. Kathryn Kamrar-Stevens passed from earth at 5 o'clock p.m. Sept. 6th, 1900.

Kathryn Kamrar was born in Webster City twenty-eight years ago, and grew to womanhood here. She was the idol of her parents, a joy in the family circle and a favorite among a wide circle of friends. She never enjoyed a robust constitution, but was always ambitious and cheerful and drew friends to her by her amiable manner and kindly disposition. On the 18th [or 13th] day of October, 1899, Miss Kathryn Kamrar was united in marriage at the home of her parents in this city to Mr. R.G. Stevens, of Chicago, and her future seemed very promising and full of hope. Three weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Stevens commenced housekeeping. Last Sunday they attended church as usual, but soon after Mrs. Stevens was taken ill and grew steadily worse until the end came last evening.

Mr. Kamrar was in Blairsburg when apprised of the death of his daughter and was overwhelmed by the sad and sudden news, the family here not realizing that her condition was so critical. Deceased leaves a husband, a father and mother, a sister and two brothers, and a wide circle of friends and admirers to mourn her untimely taking off and to cherish in kindly remembrance her many womanly virtues.

The remains will arrive here on the Northwestern train tomorrow morning and the funeral will be held at the Kamrar home on Willson avenue Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
