Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Thursday, March 21, 1946

Word was received here Wednesday morning by Mrs. Luella Fassett that her brother-in-law, John R. Kamrar, died Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. Mr. Kamrar, about 67 years old, was taken to a hospital Monday morning, suffering from coronary thrombosis. He seemed to be recovering, but suddenly became worse and died Tuesday morning.

Funeral services will be held Friday in Los Angeles at the Little Church of the Heather. The body will be cremated.

Mr. Kamrar was the son of John L. and Frances Saben Kamrar, a prominent pioneer family here. The family came to Webster City in 1869, where the elder Kamrar was mayor for two terms, served as state senator and was an elector on the republican presidential ticket of 1888. The town of Kamrar was named for John L. Kamrar.

Mr. Kamrar worked in the Hamilton county bank here, and was then employed by the state automobile department for several years.

Mr. and Mrs. Kamrar moved to Los Angeles about 12 years ago, where he was owner and manager of a large apartment house.

Mrs. Kamrar will return to Webster City some time next month.

[Graceland Cemetery headstones spell his mother's maiden name with an "I" instead of an "E".
