Linda Lou Cordero, 79, formerly Linda Gordon, passed away in her Kingman, Arizona home on May 8, 2020 with her daughter by her side. She was born June 21, 1940, in Webster City, IA to Frank and Kathryn Gordon.

Linda was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and held on strongly to her faith as an adult. She grew up in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School in 1958 and Webster City Junior College in 1960. She taught elementary and junior high school courses in Manson, Iowa and high school math in Oxnard, California.

Linda was united in marriage to Alan Brooks and to this union two children were born, Becky and Chris. She married Robert Cordero August 4, 1978. They lived in Oxnard, CA for several years and then moved to Kingman, AZ in 2004.

Linda enjoyed researching her family ancestry and sharing the many things she learned with her siblings and extended family. Linda never missed an opportunity to send a greeting card or to provide encouraging words to someone feeling down. She jokingly called herself “The Boss” but in parallel was always helpful to others, generous with gifts, time, and money.

Throughout her teaching career she had a proven track record of success. Her dedication, hard work, and love for her job touched many in positive ways. She played cards and board games with her siblings in addition to helping them with their homework.

She is survived by her children Rebecca Marie Brooks, Kingman, AZ and Christopher Alan Brooks, Houston, TX; her sisters. Elaine (Bob) Harden, Odebolt, IA; Ginny (Bruce) Miller, Topeka, KS; brothers Dave (Sue) Gordon, Jewell, IA; and Richard Gordon, Manson, IA; step-children Sandra (Curtis) Gibbs, Taft, CA and Robert Cordero, Lebanon, OR; as well as seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. All will miss Linda’s giggles and stories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Kathy Draeger, her brother-in-law Bob Draeger: a nephew, Todd Draeger and a great-niece, Maddie Naill.

Linda was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery on May 20, 2020 in Webster City. The family plans to have a private graveside service at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Linda may be directed to a cancer charity of the donor’s choice.
