Alice Arlene Widick, 94, of Stratford, IA, died July 11, 2020 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A private family burial will be held. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Alice was born to Clifford and Clara (Smith) Davenport on July 6, 1926 in Rutland, Iowa. She attended high school in Algona. She married Clinton Widick July 15, 1945 on the front porch of Alice's mother's home. They spent their honeymoon in Arnolds Park, IA. After living in LuVerne, IA for a short time they moved to rural Stanhope to farm in 1946. Alice and Clinton operated a livestock and row crop farm until retirement in 1993. Along with all of the duties of being a partner in farming, Alice found time to take on "PTA" duties, be a 4-H helper, teach Vacation Bible School, teach Sunday School, take children to appointments, keep a home and cook exceptional meals - especially fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.

Alice was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Stratford and served on many boards and committees through the years there as well as earlier years at Homer United Methodist Church of Homer, IA and Asbury United Methodist Church of Webster City, IA. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making school bags for sending to children overseas.

Alice and Clinton enjoyed camping and picnics and Alice enjoyed canning and preserving food. Alice enjoyed her time living in Athens Woods Estates and the community it provided. Alice especially enjoyed collecting Boyd's Bears and when the time came to enter the care center, she donated her collection to Lutheran Services of Iowa to be used as incentive gifts for children being served through Beloit Residential Treatment Services.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, stepbrother, husband, Clinton and daughter, Gloria, brother Challis Davenport, granddaughter Pam and great-grandson Nathan. Those left to remember her include three children: Bill (Diane) Widick of Clear Lake, IA, Jerry (Barb) Widick of Webster City, IA and Donna (Bill) Busch of Jewell, IA, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends and church family members.

Memorial donations in Alice's memory can be directed to Calvary United Methodist Church or Care Initiatives Hospice of Des Moines, and can be mailed to: Alice Widick Memorial, 400 Main Street, Jewell, IA 50130.
