February 18, 2020Raymond Hanson, 86 of Webster City died Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Raymond Nels Hanson, son of Marshall and Nettie Claflin Hanson, was born February 14, 1934, in Jewell. He attended country schools in the Jewell and Webster City area. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1952 – 1964. He was united in marriage on April 18, 1954, to Eleanor Avis Venner at the Vernon Lutheran Church, south of Dows. Ray worked for Forrester Dairy, Hart-Carter, Luppes Transport and Hamilton County Secondary Roads. After retiring, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and talking to anyone he met.
He is survived by his son, Rod (Sharon) Hanson of New Providence; daughter, Diane Hanson of Webster City; grandchildren, Jenn (Nate Wallerich) Hanson, Brent Hanson; great-granddaughters, Bria, Keighan, and Ayda; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great- grandchildren.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor in 2016; his parents; and brothers in infancy, Richard and William Hanson.
