February 3, 2020JoAnn Katzer, 87, of Webster City died Friday, January 31, 2020 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Richard Laird, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Cass Center Cemetery.
JoAnn Katzer, daughter of Joseph and Vera McConnell Katzer, was born October 22, 1932 in Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High in 1950. JoAnn attended Webster City Junior College and went on to Buena Vista University to obtain her teaching degree, graduating in 1956. She taught elementary school for 30 years, retiring from Webster City Community Schools in 1992. JoAnn served a term as Hamilton County Recorder from 1971 to 1974.
She is survived by her sister, Claudia (Harold) Griffith of London, Ontario Canada; niece, Patricia (Tom) Stuart; nephews, David (Kathleen) Griffith and Chris (Megan) Griffith; niece-in-law, Sydney Griffith; many great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Stephen Griffith.
She was a member of the New Testament Church of Christ, former member of Alpha Ki Chapter of Delta Kapa Gamma Society International and Webster City Business & Professional Women. JoAnn was a current member of Webster City Women’s Club, TAT Neighborhood and Hamilton County 4-H Foundation.
JoAnn’s family would like to thank all of those that were dear friends to her throughout the years, who supported and cared for her.
