Harold “Andy” Duane Anderson, age 78, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Arthur “Bert” Bertrum and Mae Constance (Oakland) Anderson on July 30, 1941, at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City, Iowa. Andy graduated from Webster City High School in 1959. After graduation, he attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

On December 26, 1965, Andy was united in marriage with Joann Edith Feldt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural St. Ansgar, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Wellsburg, Iowa, where Andy taught Vocational Agriculture for two years. In 1967, they moved to the family farm outside of Webster City. In 1989, Andy & Joann moved to Minnesota, where they lived and worked until 2007, when they retired and moved to Parkersburg.

Andy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Andy sang in the choir and served as a deacon and an usher in the churches they attended in Webster City and Blue Earth. In his younger years, Andy enjoyed riding horseback, camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Andy greatest joy was visiting with family and friends.

Andy died Monday, December 16, 2019, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joann, on July 7, 2019; and his parents, Bert and Mae Anderson.

Andy is survived by three children, Scott (Holly) Anderson of Webster City, Stacie (Steve) Brass of Cedar Falls and Jay (Leia) Anderson of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Zachary Anderson, Alyssa, Nicholas and Lindsey Brass, and Olivia, Wesley and Devan Anderson.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2019, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, with burial at a later date in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Redman- Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.

Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg is in charge of arrangements.
