Diane Louise Higgins, age 73, died peaceful at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa on October 13, 2019, surrounded by loving family and friends. Diane was born January 4th, 1946, in Jefferson, IA to Russell and Donita (Mobley) Souder.
Diane was creatively and musically blessed and was honored to pass these gifts down through the generations. Diane enjoyed gardening and taking part in garden clubs, St. Brigid’s and St. Mary’s Parishes catechism and found joy playing the piano for the parishes. Diane enjoyed school events and took pride in watching her daughter and grandchildren in their activities throughout the years. She loved watching sports and was an avid Cyclones fan! Her motto always was “I am who I am.” A mother/grandmother/great-grandmother’s love is a unique, pure, strong and unconditional kind of love and Diane’s love was just that. Those left behind feel enormous void.
Diane is survived by her daughter Karilynne (Higgins) Lenning, beloved grandchildren Alyssa (Nate VanBecelaere) and Karter Lenning and precious great grandchildren, Lincoln, Reese and Briggs. Leaving a legacy for family was Diane’s priority in life, she accomplished this goal.
Diane was blessed with the long-lasting friendships of Mary Jo Burchfield (Dana) and Bonnye Ryan (Clive). These ladies are examples of true and forever friendship.
Services to honor Diane’s life will be held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church and Parish Center in Grand Junction, Iowa.
