Janet Sylvester, 85, of Webster City died Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Father Stephen Meyer officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary and scripture service on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the church. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery in Nevada at a later date.
Janet Sylvester, daughter of Everett and Elaine Taylor, was born February 16, 1934 in Nevada. She graduated from Nevada High school and went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College. On March 16, 1953 Janet was united in marriage to Max Spencer Sylvester in Nevada. In, 1962 they moved to Webster City. Janet worked for 20 years in the office at McMurray Hatchery.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Max of Webster City; children, James (Brenda) Sylvester of Frederick, MD; Steven (Katie) Sylvester of Omaha, NE; Susan (Dana) Nimic of Lincoln, NE; Julie (Dale) Olmstead of Webster City; Scott (Debbie) Sylvester of Dana Point, CA; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her sister, Linda Shickell of Nevada.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly (Bob) Gerlach and brother-in-law, Bill Shickell.
