Elmer "JR" Kelley Jr., 87, of Stratford passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford on Sunday, June 11, 2006. He had been a resident at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center since June of 2005.

He was born on December 21, 1918 in Jefferson, Iowa the son of Elmer and Fannie (Chainey) Kelley. On March 11, 1938 he married Nellie Lucille "Lucy" Johnston at Jefferson. Elmer was a graduate of Dana High School. He was a farmer and did custom combining and corn shelling for the surrounding communities.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Ethel (Roger) Clausen of Stanhope, Iowa, Nancy Vinchattle of Stratford, Iowa, 2 sons, Fred Kelley of Stratford, Iowa, Elmer (Mary) Kelley of Mulberry, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. His parents, wife, Lucille in December of 1993, 1 grandson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers preceded him in death.

The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Graveside services with interment will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 A.M. at the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford, Iowa with Layperson Gina Spohnheimer officiating.
