Edith Nerland, 89, of Williams, died on Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7:30 Thursday at the Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams.

Edith Gertrude Dagit was born December 10, 1916 in Churdan, Iowa to Raymond and Alma (Arnold) Dagit. She was raised in the area and graduated from Churdan High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Harold Nerland on February 12, 1943, in Webster City. Edith was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Williams. She was involved with the Harmony Club, Women's Club and the Williams American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Donald Nerland and wife, Edie of Louisville, Kentucky and their daughter, Natalie Nerland of Louisville, Kentucky; a son, Roger Nerland and wife, Deb of Williams and their family, Ed (Dedra) and daughters Haley and Cassidy of Williams, Scott (Jill) and daughter Kyleigh of Osage and Nikki Knoblock (Eric) of Gahanna, Ohio; six sisters, Leona (Don) Norton, Seattle, WA, Avis Schorer, Bloomington, MN, Alice Keane, Williams, Phyllis Olson, Ellsworth, Elsie Miller, Chicago, IL and Mary Lapp, Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and four brothers, Bill, Arnold, Dorian and Lowell.
