Mildred D. Brooks, 89, of Webster City, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred Doris (Fuller) Brooks was born to Lester and Zada (McFarland) Fuller on May 25, 1916 on a farm north of Stanhope, Iowa. When Mildred was two years old, the family moved to California for a few years but then moved back to a farm near Stanhope. She was educated in the Stanhope Schools and graduated from high school there in 1934. Mildred married C. Randall Brooks on August 22, 1937, and the couple lived their entire married lives in Webster City. One son, C. Roger Brooks, was born to this union. Randall died in 1979.

Mildred was a longtime member of the Webster City Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and as the Sunday school treasurer. She was active in all aspects of the church as long as her health allowed her. She was also a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grands and Degree Staff, the Webster City Women's Club and the hospital auxiliary.

Mildred loved to sew and do crafts. She always had time to help anyone who asked her. Her son and her grandchildren were the pride of her life. She loved to play cards with her friends and loved to be around other people.

Mildred is survived by her son Roger and his wife Kay of Clarion, Iowa; her granddaughter Amy Gruenkemeier and her husband Jens of Round Rock, Texas; her grandson Brian Brooks and his wife Stephanie of Oakley, California; her sisters, Opal Rullestad of Ames, Iowa and Phyllis Basara and her husband Gene of Lena, Illinois; sisters-in-law Hazel Fuller of Ackley, Iowa, Retta Ranes of Kissimee, Florida, Dorothy Hanson and Aurora Brooks both of Webster City, Iowa; brother-in-law Melvin Brooks and his wife Joyce of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers Merlin Fuller and his wife Janice; Everett Fuller and his wife Caroline; and Russell Fuller; sister-in-law Irene Brooks; and brothers-in-law Cecil Rullestad, Stewart Brooks and his wife Marie, Riley Brooks, Loren Ranes and Richard Hanson.
