Mrs. Seward (Ida) Smith, 85, longtime former Blairsburg resident, died Wednesday evening at the Hamilton county hospital.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul Mathis officiating. Burial will be made in the Blairsburg cemetery.

Ida Louise Smith, daughter of James and Julia Smith, was born Dec. 25, 1883 on a farm near Prairieburg, Linn county, Iowa. She grew to young womanhood in that community. She accepted Christ as her savior in early life.

She was united in marriage Oct. 3, 1906 to Seward LeClere Smith of Monticello, Iowa. The couple started farming in the Prairieburg community. In the spring of 1920, with a family of four sons, they moved to Hamilton county, locating on a farm one and one-half miles north of Blairsburg. Later two daughters, Lucile and Lorraine, were born to the couple.

After her husband's death in 1951, Mrs. Smith moved to Webster City where she had since made her home.

She is survived by six children: Dwight Smith, Columbus, Ohio; Edward Smith, Holdingford, Minn.; Everett Smith, Blairsburg; Delbert Smith, Corvallis, Ore.; Mrs. Robert (Lucile) Brian, Santa Barbara, Calif.; Mrs. Dan (Lorraine) Read, Corvallis, Ore; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs.
