Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Friday, September 10, 1937

William Edward LeClair was born February 2, 1859 in Oswego, N.Y. In 1877, he came to Iowa, living first in Monticello, later working on a farm. In the spring of 1883 he went to Washington state where he took up a claim, working his farm for 21 years.

Returning to Iowa in 1904 he again made his residence in Monticello. In June of that year he was united in marriage to Lulie Smith, who survives him. Since 1920 Mr. and Mrs. LeClair have made their home in Blairsburg. He was a faithful and devoted husband and kind father to his three stepsons, who in turn accepted him as a father and honored him.

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his wife and stepsons, a brother, Frank LeClair, Syracuse, N.Y. and a sister, Miss Ida LeClair of Rochester, N.Y.

He was a Christian and as long as his mind was clear and his hearing better he faithfully attended the church services and the family worship in the home. He served as an elder and trustee in the Presbyterian church in Monticello. At the time of his death he was a member of the Fellowship of Christ's church in Blairsburg.

[he married Louise LeClere Smith and they are both buried in the Blairsburg Cemetery]
