Oletha Chamness, 82, of Blairsburg, Iowa passed away at her home in Blairsburg on Thursday, September 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City, Iowa with Pastor Jeff Flagg, officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City, Iowa.

Oletha Lary was born in Melrose, New Mexico on February 13, 1934 to Calvin Lee and Hazel Alie Conwill Lary. She attended school in Melrose, New Mexico. Oletha married Perry Bernard Chamness in New Mexico on December 22, 1952. Oletha worked various jobs over the years. Upon Perry's retirement, the couple moved to Hollywood, Florida then to Linden, Tennessee and moved to rural Blairsburg, Iowa in 1998.

Oletha leaves behind her seven children, Ricky (Pat) Chamness of Monon, Indiana; Kathy (Phil) Tarmann of Granville, Illinois; Gary (Nicole) Chamness of Blairsburg, Iowa; Mark (Denise) Chamness of Palmyra, Maine; Mona (Bill Batterton) Beck of Astoria, Illinois; Dianna Chamness of Blairsburg, Iowa; and Natalie (Mark) Statler-Dickerson of Bourbonnais, Illinois; grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Faletti, Adam (Stephanie) Tarmann, Alex (Lindsay) Tarmann, Jeremy Martin, Jennifer (Nielzen Demaso) Acton, Peter Chamness, Eric Chamness, Mackenzie Chamness, Andrew Chamness, Michael Nielsen, Natalie Nielsen, Stephen (Katie Evans) Chamness, Truman Chamness, Lillian Chamness, Rosemary Chamness and Olivia Statler; great grandchildren, Lauren Faletti, Preston Faletti, Stella Tarmann, Oliver Tarmann, Dominic Tarmann, Cooper Chamness; sister, Mary Lula Parks of Springhill, KS; nephew, Ron (Susan) Parks of Palo Hills, KS and their children, Christina, Jeremiah and Heather Parks; step-grandson, Justin Batterton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Frieda Chamness of Bourbonnais, Illinois; her dog, Blondie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; granddaughter, Tiffany Chamness; siblings, Calvin Lary Jr., Alleen Sims, Frances Lathem, Benny Lary, Blanch Atwell and her twin brother, Otha Lary.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Oletha enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cards, quilting, canning, gardening, going to the casino and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family.
