Fern Hoelscher, age 97, of Williams, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday December16 , 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Williams. The Surls Funeral Chapel of Williams is assisting the family.

Fern Elizabeth was born on January 17, 1921 in Williams, Iowa to William and Grace (Johnson) Duden. She graduated from Williams High School in 1938. On January 20, 1941, Fern was united in marriage to Loren Hoelscher in Princeton, Missouri.

Fern was a member of the Williams United Methodist Church. She took care of the communion sacraments for years. Fern was in charge of the crafts at the annual church bazaars.

She loved to go to the grandchildren's events. She also loved to visit the antique stores and shops in the surrounding communities. Fern had a collection of salt and pepper shakers and also roosters. She loved looking at old barns, school houses and churches.

Fern is survived by her children Lorna (Walt) Nassichuk of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Lurlin (Connie) Hoelscher of Williams, Carroll Hoelscher of Williams, Loren (Virginia) Hoelscher of Williams, Kathy (Glenn) Sutherland of Mariposa, California, Mark (Margaret) Hoelscher of Williams, Karen (Charles) Johnson of Belle Plaine, Colette (Steve) Mickelson of Ankeny and John (Joan) Hoelscher of Farmington Hills, Michigan, 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, brother William Duden and special family friend Chat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Loren, son Doug and sisters Angie Whipple, Caroline Dagit and Hazel Duden.
